Hi, I’m Charmaine Bonhomme, Founder and CEO of Empathic HomeCare Services. I was born in Nassau, Bahamas, and moved to the United States as a child. I am also the proud mother of two amazing daughters, who inspire me every day to lead with compassion, integrity, faith, and purpose. My journey into caregiving began long before it became my profession. At just six years old, I was caring for my grandmother, who was also my guardian. I remember carrying water from the well, helping her in the garden, cleaning our home, and assisting with her daily needs. Even as a little girl, I discovered something that would shape the rest of my life I found joy in caring for others. Looking back now, I know God was already preparing me for my purpose. When I moved to the United States, that calling only became stronger. By the age of 15, I wanted to do more than help around my own home I wanted to make a difference in the lives of people who needed compassion and support. My mother, a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), welcomed me into her world of caregiving. She taught me the foundations of serving others with dignity, patience, and respect. She poured her knowledge, wisdom, and heart into me, and I will forever be grateful for the example she set. Working alongside my mother, I helped prepare meals, clean homes, do laundry, and provide companionship to her patients. I witnessed firsthand how a warm smile, a listening ear, and a caring heart could brighten someone’s day. Those experiences confirmed that caregiving wasn’t simply a job for me it was my calling. By the ages of 19 and 20, I was actively pursuing opportunities with home care agencies while also helping neighbors with housekeeping, organization, companionship, and everyday tasks. Throughout the years, I gained invaluable experience caring for seniors and individuals with unique needs. More importantly, I built meaningful relationships with families who trusted me with the people they loved most. My clients have always known me as someone who goes above and beyond. I believe every person deserves to feel safe, respected, valued, and loved. I treat every client like family because that’s exactly how I would want my own loved ones to be cared for. In 2009, God placed a dream in my heart to one day own a home care company. Although I had the vision, I didn’t yet have the name. I continued serving families, growing professionally, and patiently trusting God’s timing. Then, in 2022, God answered that prayer in the most unexpected way. During a conversation, a close friend looked at me and said, “You are so empathetic. You always go out of your way for others and you enter people homes with love.” In that very moment, I felt God place the name Empathic HomeCare Services on my heart. It was more than a business name it was a reflection of who I am and the purpose God had been preparing me for since childhood. Today, Empathic HomeCare Services exists to provide compassionate, dependable, and personalized non-medical home care that helps individuals remain safe, comfortable, and independent in the place they call home. Whether someone needs companionship, personal care, respite care,emotional Support,post-surgical assistance, Alzheimer’s and dementia support, or help with daily living activities, our mission is to improve quality of life while giving families complete peace of mind. At Empathic HomeCare Services, we don’t just provide care we build relationships. We listen with empathy, serve with compassion, and treat every client with the dignity, respect, and kindness they deserve. For me, this is more than a career. It is my God-given purpose.
